This is a lightweight cotton scarf made using an ancient dyeing technique called Ikat. With the Ikat technique, the threads are dyed while maintaining resistance and then woven to form precise, interlocking geometry and floral patterns. Each scarf has been woven on a pit loom, which is a process that takes several days per piece. This piece not only showcases the efforts but is also an example of the livelihood of these women artists in this UNESCO-recognized craft village.
